What matters is not looking at a thing. It is looking into it.
Anyone can see something. Almost everything I have found was in the second look, or the tenth. The first one only returns what you already expected to be there.
Inspiration is not picked up somewhere. It is earned.
People ask me where I find it. Nowhere. It only arrives after thinking hard, trying, failing, and going through the thing myself. It is something you do, not something you receive.
What I care about most now is steadiness, kindness, and warmth.
None of the three are talents. They are decisions made again the next day, and the day after. A thing can be efficient and kind at the same time, and I would rather it were both.
A record is not left behind. It accumulates.
Quietly, in the repetition. There is work that nothing but time can prove, and I have never found a way to hurry it.
